Meet Morse Code Love Prints

I'm Stephanie, the face behind the stationery and giftware company Morse Code Love Prints. Right now, I'm in full-on Christmas mode, shopping for my family, baking gingersnaps and decorating my home. I’m also busy mailing off your Christmas orders and stocking up my Alberta retail partners with greeting cards, enamel pins, stickers and more.

I started Morse Code Love Prints in 2014, with a 20-month old on one hip and a 4-month old on the other. I'd left my career as a junior high teacher to stay home with my kids, but--somehow--I wasn’t busy enough. So, I launched my little graphic design company, hoping to share my art and sense of humour with all of you. I love designing with bright and bold colours and I don't mind throwing in a good-natured jab every now and then. I pride myself on high quality products, which I design and package myself. And, when you buy from Morse Code Love Prints, you're also supporting the local Edmonton businesses who help me print and manufacture these amazing products.

I'm passionate about helping people feel good. In my creative process, that translates to designs that make people laugh or that they deeply resonate with. Beyond the designs themselves, I see my product choices as methods of "sharing the good" and creating community. Think about the last time you received a card that made you go "That is SO me," or a time you were far from home (remember those days?!) and saw someone with a Canada pin on their backpack and felt an immediate kinship. Whether you're on the giving or receiving end of my products, I love helping those connections happen.

I work out of a tiny storage room under the basement stairs (how quaint) and my kitchen table surrounded by children playing playdough, watching Blippi on the tablet or asking for another(!) snack. When I'm not working, I'm taking photos of my three handsome sons, baking cookies or bingeing a Netflix show with my husband Chris.

How did My business begin? I left my second job and needed to help subsidize my income. I was working in a little store in Agassi and it was chilly. I love big blanket shawls so went looking for fabric to make myself some. I had a few ladies come in and ask if we sold what I was wearing I said no I made them and they asked me to make them some so I did. Then my little sister said Laken we should go take some photos so you can sell them online. And that’s how West Coast Alchemist started!
